US Government Transfers Bitcoin Worth Over $300M Linked to Silk Road Confiscation

The United States Department of Justice (DOJ) has moved approximately 9,825.25 Bitcoin (BTC) worth around $299 million in a series of transactions. It is unclear whether the BTC was sent to exchange addresses for sale or remains in the custody of the Justice Department. The bulk of the coins, 8,200 BTC worth nearly $250 million, were sent to a single address and subsequently split across 101 separate addresses. The U.S. government had previously announced plans to sell the remaining BTC from the Silk Road seizure in four batch transactions throughout the year. Speculation about the nature of these transactions has led to concerns within the crypto community, but market movement has remained relatively stable.
